Consultation about proposed changes to Brighton and Hove City Council’s Housing Allocations Scheme.
Brighton & Hove City Council is committed to reducing inequalities and building sustainable communities. We are proposing to make some changes to the Housing Allocation Scheme following concerns being expressed about the impact of the current policy upon young adults leaving care. Any changes which result from this review will apply to new applicants and applicants already on the Housing Register. The proposed changes may affect the band that some existing applicants are in.
We want to know what you think about the proposed changes. To ensure that we make best use of the limited housing resources as well as ensure that we are moving the right people to the right housing we are therefore reviewing the policy and as part of this we are consulting with you to find out your views.
Within this review we would also like to consider any changes that may occur from the outcome of the Localism Bill which should be due out towards the end of 2011. As and when these are known officially they will be added to this document.
The citywide consultation period will run for 12 weeks from 7th November 2011 until 29th January 2011.
